MMW Designs: Hooded Poncho

Nothing says fun, cool-weather wear like a poncho! Use bright, spring colors for a pop of color or warm, fall colors for a toasty feel. My hooded poncho is designed to fit 18" dolls like American Girl dolls, but some adjustments can be made to fit smaller dolls. I can knit a larger poncho without a hood for Cabbage Patch dolls.

Hooded Ponchos will require a total of 2.5 ounces of yarn. Slightly less than 2 ounces is needed for a poncho without a hood.

The Your Yarn, My Needles fee for this garment is $20 with hood, $10 without a hood.

MMW Designs: Little Longies

Little longies are a fun addition to any wardrobe. They are easy to adjust sizing on and add personalization. Ruffled cuffs for girl dolls or seed stitch cuffs for boy babies. I can also make them shorts length.

Depending on the size needed, about 1.5 ounces of the main color and .5 ounces of a coordinating color is needed for longies. They can also be made in all of one color of yarn. I might require a few measurements from you to make the perfect fit.

The Your Yarn, My Needles fee for this garment is $10 for shorts, $15 for pants.

There are many wonderful longies knitters on Hyena Cart.

MMW Designs: Stripey Doll Dress

The Stripey Doll Dress is an original design of mine that can be knit in sock weight yarn or worsted weight yarn. I published a free pattern for the sock weight version on my family blog. This cute little summery dress looks great on dolls of many sizes and can also be worn with pants. This pattern was designed to showcase self-striping yarn, but also looks great in solids.

The sock weight version uses about 1.5 ounces of yarn, while the worsted weight version uses 2 ounces.

The Your Yarn, My Needles fee for this garment is $20 on sock weight or $15 on worsted weight yarn.

MMW Designs: Tunic Dress

A fun and versatile tunic style dress for dolls and stuffies! This design is easy to adapt to fit 18" dolls like American Girls, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Waldorf Dolls, and you favorite stuffed toys. It can be made long enough to be worn as a dress, or slightly shorter as a top with pants underneath.

This design requires 1.5 ounces in the main color and .5 ounces of yarn in a coordinating color.

The Your Yarn, My Needles fee for this garment is $15.

MMW Designs: Oriental Lily for 18" Dolls

The distinctive Oriental Lily Dress was designed by Georgie Hallam of tiKKi Fabric Addict. I have modified her original design so that it fits 18" dolls like the American Girl dolls. I am selling the modified pieces with her permission.

The front of the dress features a kimono style bodice, the obi in contrasting yarn, and a gently flared skirt. The back of the dress has a v-neck opening to make it easy to dress your doll. This dress can be knit with short sleeves or long flared sleeves.

This design requires 2 oz of yarn for the main color and .6 oz of yarn in a coordinating trim color.

A Your Yarn, My Needles fee for this garment is $20.

A list of knitters currently licensed to sell child-size garments from this pattern is available on the tiKKi website.

The Birth of Mini Me Woolies

After months of making hand-knit, premium wool doll clothes for my daughter's dolls, I decided to see if other wool loving mamas want beautiful garments for the naked dolls in their homes.

I've spent the past few months working on my own pattern designs as well as obtaining permission from other designers to sell modified versions of their designs. I am currently knitting some ready-to-purchase items, but am hoping to focus on your yarn, my needles projects.

What I love to do, is to take your odd balls of leftover yarns that seem too small for bigger projects, but are just right for transforming into doll garments. Have a odd skein of yarn that you don't know what to make with? I can create matching garments for 2 doll babies or a dress and hat set for one.

Who wears Mini Me Woolies?

I have pieces for 18" American Girl size dolls, Cabbage Patch Kids, Waldorf style dolls, 15" baby dolls, and even Build-a-Bears. The pieces are designed to easily put on dolls, but some may have button closures. For that reason, some pieces may not be intended for small children.

Why wool?

Most of the yarn I will use for instock items is 100% wool. I love the feel of fine quality wool- it's incredibly soft, sturdy, and gentle to the touch. Hand-dyed wool is rich in color and makes the garments heirloom quality as well as stunningly beautiful. Many people think they are allergic or sensitive to wool, but most of the time they are actually just sensitive to commercially prepared wool, which has been heavily treated with chemicals. The yarn I select for Mini Me Woolies garments is very soft to touch, with no itchy factor, because I know that your child's doll or bears will be handled and snuggled.

How Do You Take Care of Mini Me Woolies?

Hand-knit items last longer and look their best when they are hand washed and laid flat to dry. It's super easy to do! The video below walks you through the whole hand washing procedure, if you are unfamiliar with it.

How Do I order Custom Mini Me Woolies?

I will have custom slots available each month. I generally plan to offer 4 slots per month, with items completed one week at a time.

Can you Make my Child a Matching Garment?

At this time, I am only knitting the doll garments for sale. In the future, I may occasionally find that I have time to knit larger sizes as well. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, I will try to offer links to other knitters that make larger pieces so you can have a set.
